Hyperthermia Occurs When the Body Overheats
Abstract
Sinisa Franjic
Hyperthermia refers to a hazardous rise in body temperature that transcends the normal range, caused by excessive generation, intake of heat, or inadequate dissipation, frequently due to extreme environmental conditions, dehydration, vigorous exercise, certain medications, and it does not react to fever-reducing medications. This condition has the potential to cause heat stroke and necessitates prompt cooling and medical care; however, hyperthermia is also employed therapeutically to eliminate cancerous cells.
