Biography
Osensei Erwin L. Rimban, Ph. D. is a Faculty Member (Andrews Campus) and Assistant Professor of Psychology (Carig Campus) at Cagayan State University in the Republic of the Philippines. He is a transdisciplinary scholar, award-winning author, and poetic thinker who walks the luminous edge between disciplines, blending the rigor of research with the radiance of human insight. As an educator, he teaches with soul and precision across undergraduate and graduate levels, weaving together the threads of Psychology, Public Health, Education, the Social Sciences and the Humanities into a living tapestry of transformative learning. A recipient of the Ophir Medal as Outstanding Writer of the Philippines, he is the author of over 22 published works spanning an astonishing breadth of fields: from Social Psychology to Wisdom Literature, Research Methods to Mystical Philosophy, Public Health to Comparative Theology, and beyond. His writing is not merely scholarly; it is a vessel of meaning, shaped by a mind steeped in inquiry and a heart attuned to social healing. His most recent book is ?A Guide to the Perplexed: Clarity for the Spiritually Curious,? published August 2025. His educational journey is marked by distinction: Valedictorian of his Science High School class at the Saint Louis College of Tuguegarao, Cum Laude graduate of the University of the Philippines Manila and a batch topnotcher in the Career Service Professional Examination with a rating of 91.89%. Recently, he has earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology degree, obtaining the Dean?s List award, as well as being recognized with an Outstanding Dissertation on the topic, Braiding Minds: The Social Cognitive Determinants of Research Self-Efficacy Among College Students. A passionate advocate of Quality Management and Ethical Foresight, he holds multiple professional certifications: ISO 9001:2015 Internal Quality Auditor, Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Certified International Impact Rater, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Course. These credentials reflect not only competence but a deep commitment to systems that serve both excellence and equity. In the realm of research, he stands as a recognized contributor to the global body of knowledge. Cited in the AD Scientific Index as a productive faculty-researcher, he is a proud member of the National Research Council of the Philippines and a Certified Research Specialist (CRS) under the Visionary Research Association of the Philippines. His research interests revolve around Cognitive Neuroscience, Transpersonal Psychology, Evolutionary Biology, Educational Philosophy, and Artificial Intelligence, among others. Internationally, he holds esteemed roles in global thought communities: as a member of the Globethics Pool of Experts, where he contributes to ethical discourse on a planetary scale; and as a council member of the ORCID Researcher Advisory Council, helping to shape the future of research identity and scholarly ecosystems worldwide. A tireless force for community-led change, he also serves as a leader of Anam Cara Philippines, a learning NGO devoted to holistic education, social inclusion, disaster resilience, and curriculum co-creation. He founded and advises Likha Pahinarya, the student-led news platform of the College of Allied Health Sciences at CSU, and pens a regular column, A Cave Beyond Logic, for the New York Free Spirit Online Journal, where his voice merges critique with contemplation. Locally, he also maintains a column, Education Unboxed, in the Northern Philippine Times, a newspaper based in Baguio City, Philippines. Through all these pursuits, he remains guided by the enduring belief that knowledge is not merely to be accumulated but embodied, shared, and lived; that education, at its best, is the art of awakening both intellect and soul toward the work of justice, memory, balance, and renewal.Research Interest
