Antidiabetic Activities of Rhazya stricta Decne: A Review

The plant sources play an important role in combating most diseases including diabetes. Rhazya stricta Decne is a folkloric medicinal plant being used in the traditional medicine systems against many ailments including diabetes mellitus. Various extracts of the plant have shown promising antidiabetic activities in various bioassays including successful researches on the animal models. The role of animal models in experimental researches directed at identification of the useful plants possessing antidiabetic properties is elaborated. A detailed account of the antidiabetic properties of the plant is presented. This is for the first time that only one activity of the plant is exclusively discussed in any review.
