Biography

Professor In Department of Microbiology, Gargi College, University of Delhi, has done M.Sc (Biotechnology), J.N.U.,New Delhi, Ph.D from Department of Microbiology, University of Delhi ,1995.Besides 21 years of undergraduate teachingspecialization in the area ofMolecular biology andBiotechnology, She has been conducting research, in the area ofBiotechnology and nanotechnology. Has successfully completed two research projects -1)UGC-Funded major research project (3 years ) titled “Screening white-rot fungi for Laccase production characterization and its application in decolorization of dyes inwaste water”( 2008-2011 ),AND 2)Interdisciplinary Innovative Research project entitled “Synthesis and Characterization of Novel nanomaterials using green methods for anti-microbial applications”, awarded by Delhi University,(2012-2013). Has more than 20International publications from these in the area of decolorization of dyes, enzyme purification and molecular characterization,application of enzymes in development of industrial effluent treatment system and synthesis of nanoparticles by green methods their characterization and antimicrobial applications and molecular biology—miRNA’s in diagnosis ,prognosis and therapy of cancer , proteomics , besides being author of Two Chapters in book on BIOSENSORS She is reviewer for international journal “Bioremediation”, and also for Environmental Engineering and ManagementJournal . She is also editorof 1) Biosensor and Bioelectronics, open access journal, Gavin publishers. 2 )Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine –another open access journal . 3) European journal of Sciences 4) Bioinformatics and Proteomics open access journal, Medwin Publishers She is life member of Association of Microbiologists of India and also member of ASM- American Society of Microbiology.
