A Re-evaluation of Conceptual Constants in Special Relativity: An Analytical Study of Structural Contradictions Between Lorentz Transformations and the Constancy of the Speed of Light

Abstract

Hasan Sadik Al Hasani

This study presents a critical and analytical review of the conceptual and mathematical foundations of the Special Theory of Relativity. The research problem focuses on deconstructing Einstein’s postulate regarding the constancy of the speed of light (c) for all observers, including the emitting source, and contrasting it with the established physical principle that the speed of light is independent of the source’s velocity. The study examines the mathematical implications of inserting the constant (c) into the equations of relativity and Lorentz transformations, and how this has led to conclusions about the dimensions of space, time, mass, and energy that may not accurately reflect physical reality.

Derived from a comprehensive seven years in the study of relativity, analytical investigation, the research reveals a fundamental internal contradiction within the theory’s framework. It demonstrates how Lorentz transformations— premised on the Fitzgerald contraction under the ether hypothesis—coexist within the same theoretical framework as Einstein’s time dilation equations, which reject the ether, despite their mutually exclusive philosophical assumptions. Concluding the analysis, the paper highlights two structural dilemmas: first, the conflict between relativistic postulates and the strict conditions of motion within inertial frames of reference; and second, the epistemological contradiction arising from asserting the invariance of physical laws for all observers regardless of their relative velocities.

All that caused this was a misinterpretation of the Michaelson-Morley experiment, which was the result of an error in its design despite the genius of its idea. Through my own efforts, I designed the correct experiment to measure the Earth’s absolute speed, and I am waiting for a scientific institution to cooperate with me to implement the experiment to document its success.
