Journal of Animal Health, Veterinary Practice and Zoonotic Research

Aim and Scope

Journal of Animal Health, Veterinary Practice and Zoonotic Research publishes original research, clinical studies, and review articles that advance understanding in veterinary medicine, animal health sciences, and the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases. The journal supports a broad, interdisciplinary approach that connects veterinary care with public health and environmental well-being.

The journal welcomes submissions from clinical practitioners, researchers, field veterinarians, and specialists working across livestock, companion animal, wildlife, and One Health domains. It encourages contributions that improve the diagnosis, treatment, and management of animal diseases while addressing the shared risks that arise at the human–animal–environment interface.

Key focus areas include:

  • Clinical Veterinary Practice: Diagnostic procedures, surgical interventions, anaesthesia protocols, and case-based outcomes in small and large animals.
  • Preventive Medicine and Animal Welfare: Vaccination strategies, parasite control, herd health management, animal housing and nutrition, and ethical standards in veterinary care.
  • Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology: Investigations into disease aetiology, pathological processes, microbial identification, host responses, and post-mortem analyses.
  • Zoonotic Diseases: Studies on bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal infections with zoonotic potential, including transmission routes, outbreak investigations, and intervention strategies.
  • Epidemiology and Public Health: Surveillance systems, risk factor analysis, regional disease patterns, biosecurity measures, and community-based disease control.
  • Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics: Evaluation of drugs, antibiotics, anthelmintics, and vaccines; pharmacokinetics; and protocols for responsible medication use.
  • Food Safety and Production Animal Health: Animal-source food hygiene, residues and contaminants, farm biosecurity, and disease prevention in dairy, poultry, aquaculture, and swine sectors.
  • Wildlife and Conservation Medicine: Health monitoring of wildlife populations, zoonotic reservoirs, habitat-related disease dynamics, and veterinary roles in biodiversity protection.
  • Emerging and Re-emerging Infections: Research on novel pathogens, vector-borne diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and interspecies transmission risks.
  • One Health and Interdisciplinary Research: Integrated studies addressing the links between animal, human, and environmental health, with an emphasis on collaborative response strategies.

The journal encourages both laboratory-based and field-oriented research, including molecular diagnostics, serological surveys, treatment efficacy evaluations, and observational or longitudinal studies. Papers may be regional or global in scope, but must demonstrate relevance to contemporary issues in veterinary and zoonotic health.

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Submissions should clearly state objectives, present accurate methodology, and offer meaningful discussion of results within the veterinary or One Health context. Case reports must include a detailed clinical narrative and explain the broader significance of the findings.

Accepted articles are published open access, ensuring global reach and accessibility. By facilitating the exchange of practical knowledge and scientific insight, the Journal of Animal Health, Veterinary Practice and Zoonotic Research aims to support improved animal care, safer human-animal interactions, and stronger links between research and real-world practice.
