Journal of Global Traditional Medicine and Indigenous Healing Systems
About the Journal

Journal of Global Traditional Medicine and Indigenous Healing Systems is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication dedicated to research, documentation, and analysis of traditional medicine practices and indigenous healing systems worldwide. It provides a platform for medical anthropologists, ethnobotanists, clinicians, herbal medicine practitioners, pharmacologists, and public health researchers to share work that deepens understanding of these knowledge systems and their role in healthcare.

The journal covers traditional and indigenous healing approaches from diverse cultures, including herbal medicine, acupuncture, Ayurvedic medicine, Unani, traditional Chinese medicine, indigenous North and South American practices, African healing traditions, and Pacific Island medicine. It recognises the importance of preserving and validating these practices while exploring how they can complement modern healthcare.

Topics include ethnopharmacology, plant-based drug discovery, integrative health models, cultural perspectives on health and illness, and clinical evaluation of traditional therapies. The journal also encourages studies on the conservation of medicinal plants, the protection of indigenous intellectual property, and ethical collaboration with local communities.

Submissions may focus on laboratory research, clinical trials, historical and anthropological studies, or case reports. Articles that highlight cross-cultural comparisons, integration with conventional medicine, and contributions to sustainable healthcare are particularly welcome.

In addition to original research, the journal publishes reviews, field study reports, and documentation of oral health traditions. By making all articles freely accessible, the Journal of Global Traditional Medicine and Indigenous Healing Systems fosters knowledge exchange between researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and communities, helping to safeguard and revitalise traditional medical knowledge.

Whether your work documents medicinal plant usage, evaluates the safety and efficacy of indigenous practices, analyses cultural frameworks for healing, or examines policy on traditional medicine integration, this journal offers a dedicated space to share your findings with a global audience.
