Instructions for Authors
OralCare Journal of Clinical Oral Medicine and Maxillofacial Surgery invites submissions of original research articles, clinical reviews, case reports, and technical communications relevant to the practice of dentistry and oral surgery. Authors should follow the guidelines below when preparing their manuscripts.
Submission Guidelines
- Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format via the journal’s online submission system.
- A cover letter must accompany the submission, including the corresponding author's contact information and a brief statement describing the significance of the study.
- Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
- All authors listed on the manuscript must approve the final version before submission.
- Formatting should follow journal style; revisions may be requested for clarity, structure, or presentation.
Article Types
- Research Articles: Original clinical or experimental studies addressing diagnostic methods, treatment approaches, surgical outcomes, or biomaterials in oral healthcare.
- Review Articles: Critical overviews of literature within clinical dentistry or maxillofacial surgery, offering evidence summaries or treatment comparisons.
- Case Reports: Unique or instructive clinical cases with well-supported diagnosis, management approach, and outcome discussion.
- Short Communications: Brief reports of novel procedures, clinical observations, or early-stage findings of relevance to oral health professionals.
Manuscript Structure
- Title Page: Include a clear article title, full author names, institutional affiliations, and contact details for the corresponding author.
- Abstract: A structured summary (150-250 words) covering the clinical question, methodology, key findings, and relevance to practice.
- Keywords: List 5-10 keywords appropriate for indexing.
- Introduction: Define the clinical or research problem, rationale, and study goals.
- Materials and Methods: Describe clinical protocols, diagnostic tools, surgical steps, or study design in detail.
- Results: Present observations, patient outcomes, statistical data, or visual documentation of procedures.
- Discussion: Interpret findings, compare with previous work, and reflect on implications or limitations.
- Conclusion: Summarise key contributions and possible future directions.
- References: Format all references in APA style, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
Review Process
All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by specialists in the field. Authors will typically receive initial feedback within four weeks.
Copyright and Open Access
Upon acceptance, authors transfer copyright to the journal. All articles are published open access for unrestricted use and citation.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
A processing fee of $1019 applies to accepted articles. Authors with limited funding may request a partial fee reduction by contacting the editorial office.
