Biography

Dr. Farhan Zameer is presently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, in the School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University, Bangalore. Dr. Zameer has served in capacities (both academic & administrative) in India and abroad. He has good experience of 12 years in teaching and 15 years in research. Dr. Zameer has completed his Post Doctoral Studies (Post-Doc) from School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology (PMI), Cancer Center, University of South Carolina, USA. He is conferred with Sir C.V. Raman Fellowship from University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, Govt. of India to pursue research in USA with a specialization in Biochemistry (Bacterial thiolomics), Epigenetics, anti-inflammation, Microbiome, and neurodegenerative diseases (multiple sclerosis). Dr. Zameer has completed his Ph.D. from the University of Mysore in Biochemistry with ICMR-BMBF (Indo-German) fellowships to study thiolomics, bacterial signaling, and gene expression studies. He has a Masters? Degree from Mangalore University with 1st Rank, a Gold medal in Biochemistry, and Bachelors? Degree from Kuvempu University (3rd Rank). Further, he has qualified Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR-SRF) & UGC-KSET exams. He has also completed Master Facilitator Certification in Leadership & Human Resource Development (MFLHRD) from College for Leadership and Human Resource Development (CLHRD), Mangalore, and PG Diploma in Information Technology from Manipal. Dr. Zameer is also part of various collaborative research projects with scientists of eminence in organizations of repute. He is a reviewer for several national and international publishers and Dr. Zameer is a Life member of various scientific societies ? SLB (USA), EU-BMBF (Germany), Chinese Chemical Society (China), ISCA, SBC, AMI, SBTI and NEN (India). Currently, two students are pursuing a Ph.D. program in Biochemistry under his mentorship and have published 85 research papers. He is well recognized and applauded for his research contribution which is evident from the various young scientist awards, honors, and citations received by him.

Research Interest

Dr. Zameer has research interest is in the field of Biochemistry of thiol gene expression, protein/enzyme studies, regulation of metabolic pathways with special reference to cellular oxidative stress, biofilms, and cellular signaling pathways involved in lifestyle disorders with a focus that includes bioinformatics approaches and epigenetics (miRNA & histone) mediated mechanisms in inflammatory fly and mouse models (T-cells mediated response) and their related microbiome analyses (In silico, In vitro, In situ and In vivo models).
