Anesthesia Complications
The most common complication after general anesthesia is nausea and vomiting. Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) are easier to prevent than treat, and multiple medications are available for patients who experience this issue. The risk of long-term complications, including death, from anesthesia itself is very small. Complications are more closely related to the surgical procedure and a patient’s general health.
