Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer

Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer is also known as Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma. It is one of the types of cancer which grows in Thyroid. Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer is a fast growing cancer and known to be the most aggressive cancer in humans.

Researchers aren’t sure about the cause of anaplastic thyroid cancer. Risk of developing cancer is being 60 or older, being 60 or older, and previous radiation exposure to the chest or neck.

Signs and symptoms are lump or nodule in the neck, difficulty in swallowing the food or pills, pressure and shortness of breath when you lie down on your back. If the cancer grows symptoms like hoarseness, visible, hard mass in the lower front part of your neck, enlarged lymph nodes, cough, with or without blood, difficult or loud breathing due to a restricted airway or trachea.

Diagnosis is physical examination, biopsy test, imaging tests like CT scan of your neck and chest, In some cases, laryngoscope test might be recommended by your doctor.

Immediate treatment is required for Anaplastic thyroid cancer as it grows fast in region or may spread to other parts of the body. Surgery may recommended by your doctor. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy may not effective. Combination of Chemo and radio therapy may be effective in some cases. Initially, doctors treat to slow down the progression of the cancer to avoid the spread of cancer to other parts of the body.
