Thyroiditis
Thyroiditis is inflammation of the thyroid gland which makes hormones which control metabolism. It is considered an autoimmune disease. Thyroiditis is caused by an immune system attack on thyroid or also cause by infection, like virus or bacteria. It is mostly found in women than in men. Thyroiditis is difficult to diagnose due to several signs and symptoms similar to other diseases. Common symptoms are fatigue, weight gain, feeling "fuzzy headed", depression, dry skin, and constipation. Other, rarer symptoms include swelling of the legs, vague aches and pains, etc. Treatment depends on type of thyroiditis.Journal key Highlights
