Growth Hormone Deficiency

Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD) is a rare disorder caused by the inadequate of growth hormone (GH) secretion from pituitary gland. Generally, symptom is short height. It occurs in both males and females though males are more often diagnosed. Low blood sugar or a small penis in Infants and may be decreased muscle mass, high cholesterol levels, or poor bone density in adults.

This condition can be at the birth time or it may develop later. There is no particular cause for this GHD. It may cause by the factors like genetics, trauma, infections, tumors, or radiation therapy. One of the associated factors includes the function of Pitutary gland. It can be diagnosed by blood tests to measure growth hormone levels. Treatment for this condition is growth hormone replacement.
